Fernando Sierpe is Civil Electrical Engineer graduated at the University of Chile, where he study also nuclear energy. At 1980, he is Graduated of the National Academy of Political and Strategical Studies, ANEPE, at Santiago de Chile. He works at Empresa Nacional del Petroleo, ENAP, and Ministerio de Obras Públicas de Chile, MOP. He works two years at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, at Santiago de Chile´s Satellite Tracking Station. After, he works 40 years at the Chilean Development Corporation, CORFO. He has been Member of the Board of the electrical companies ENDESA, EDELNOR, EDELAYSEN. As CORFO executive he had participation in the privatization of the sector of electrical companies and creation of new electrical companies as Colbun-Machicura, Emelari, Eliqsa, Elecda and others. He is Member of the Commission of Energy of the Association of Engineers of Chile. At 2007, he founded the Nuclear Power Committee at the Commission of Energy with other two colleagues. At 2009, he is co-author with other two colleagues of the Nuclear Power Programme for Chile, 2009 – 2030. This Nuclear Programme was proposed by the Association of Engineers to the Government of Chile and the national community. At 2014, the Nuclear Programme was updated and is known also as Nuclear Programme 30/30 for Chile, due its goal is to achieve a 30% of nuclear participation in the electrical mix by 2030. In 2012, he assisted invited to present the Nuclear Power Programme for Chile at the Interregional Workshop on Thorium and Uranium, organized at Lisbon, Portugal, by the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, the Economic Commission for Europe of UN, UNECE, and the Iberoamerican Programme for Science and Technology for Development, CYTED. Due this invitation, at 2013, the Association of Engineers of Chile, with the Ministry of Mining, the Chilean Commission of Nuclear Energy, CCHEN, hold in its headquarters at Santiago de Chile, the next Interregional Workshop on Thorium and Uranium organized by IAEA, UNECE, CEPAL, CYTED. Fernando Sierpe was designated Host Country Organizer of the event. This event was attended by about 60 specialists from 40 countries of Europe, America, Asia and Africa. Fernando Sierpe is promoting the Nuclear Power Programme for Chile doing conferences at universities and professional centers, writing articles for the papers, making additional studies, contacting international nuclear companies, trying to convince politicians and so on.
