Biography

Mr. Villabruna holds a Diploma of Technical Engineer and has been working extensively within the electromechanical industry throughout his 40 years career where he held key roles in different sectors like: engineering, commercial, marketing and project management.

He started his career in 1976 as employee of Ansaldo Meccanico Nucleare.

From 1984 he was Engineering Department’s Resident Representative in Bucharest for Ansaldo and 2 years later he was appointed as Project Manager of Ansaldo’s activity in Romania.

Since 1989 until now, Mr. Villabruna is VP-Head of Representative Office of Ansaldo Nucleare in Romania, being in charge with the development of the Cernavoda Nuclear Plant project. In this Country, Ansaldo Nucleare – in consortium with Canadian company Candu Energy (former AECL), and in collaboration with local Romanian authorities and industries – built and put into operation the first two nuclear units, which together are producing about 20% of the Romanian national electricity need.

Starting 2006 up to 2014 he has been appointed VP-Head of Representative Office of Finmeccanica SpA.

Currently, he is also President of  Polaris-Anserv (a Romanian Company partially owned by Ansaldo Nucleare) and General Director of Ansaldo Nucleare Cernavoda Branch.

Starting from October 2015, to Mr. Villabruna was assigned also the position of Commercial Manager for South America.

On December 2005, the President of the Republic of Italy conferred to Mr. Villabruna the Honour of  “Commendatore dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana”.

On September 2007, the President of the Republic of Romania conferred to him the Honour of  “Comandor al Ordinul Meritul Industrial si Comercial”

On November  2007, the University of  Pitesti conferred to Mr. Villabruna the Doctor Honoris Causa Degree in recognition of  his strong support to the nuclear energy development program in Romania.

He speaks fluently Italian (mother language), English and Romanian.
