Sam Harvey is a Principal Technical Leaderat the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in the Strategic Programs area of the Nuclear Sector. He is currently responsible for new nuclear plan startup for EPRI. His current research activities focus on Asset Management, Condition Based Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Life cycle management, Engineering Practices, Single Point Vulnerabilities, and Equipment Reliability.
Samjoined EPRI in 2014 as a Principal Technical Leader in the Plant Technology. Before joining EPRI, he worked for more than 35 years at several nuclear power plants in assorted chemistry, outage management, and engineering positions. He also served as a Senior Evaluator in Equipment Reliability at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations. He has held roles of increasing responsibility with His most recent commercial power plant experience as theGeneral Manager of Engineering and Engineering CFAM for the Tennessee Valley Authority from 2009-2014.
Sam’s initial nuclear experience was as a Plant Chemist at Plant E.I. Hatch in Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Valdosta State University and is completing his MBA from the University of Phoenix. He also holds a BWR SRO certification.
